Hours of celluloid and buckets of blood have brought us to the Macabre Madness Final 4, where a telekinetic teen faces the perfect killing machine and an abominable sewer monster goes tooth to tooth with the great white terror of Amity beach. It all comes down to this: Who would win in a fight?

Round 5: The Final 4

It’s been one hell of a Macabre Madness horror movie tournament! Our debut deathmatch pitted Leatherface against Michael Myers (Mikey won), zombies against super-zombies (who do you think?), Carrie against Regan from The Exorcist (teen angst prevails), and a dirty, rotten sewer beast against the man with knives for fingers (Freddy’s for-real final nightmare). And now, in the Final 4 championship, we feed film criticism to the werewolves for the gloves off, no-holds-barred street fight you know you want!

Listen to the Macabre Madness Final 4 title fights round!

Carrie (1976) vs. Alien (1979)

In Carrie’s corner… Phil says, “She’s hands off. The telekinetic ability man: she can go anywhere, do anything, set anything on fire, and her body count is up there. She’s not worried to get her hands dirty.”

In the xenomorph’s corner… Jessica says, “It’s this amazing, frightening killing machine that stalks and waits and hides in the shadows. Although it does a lot of gratuitous drooling at times.”

The Host (2006) vs. Jaws (1975)

In the dirty garbage monster’s corner… Jessica says: “It’s got all the parts. It’s got comedy, it’s got the horror of the monster, it’s got political commentary, it’s got adventure, it’s got children and children in peril.”

In Jaws’ corner… Kailyn says: “Jaws has all those things — except it did them first.”

Championship Round: The Host vs. Alien

Weeks of bloodletting brings us to the Macabre Madness championship: a soon-to-be classic monster flick from 2006 and B-movie monster flick turned cultural icon from 1979. Let’s do the monster mash!

The hell is Macabre Madness…?

It’s the only crossover horror event you’ve never seen, the one Hollywood can’t possibly produce, the one even Troma is too nervous to make: 60 horror films from 6 genres go head-to-head in a bracket tournament. The last film standing is crowned 2019 Macabre Madness champion!
